Another guy at a "professional" shop claimed there was no other way to pull out the deck unless he took out most of the dash: wrong again (forums)

the other guy pretty much just didn't even want to touch the car. And said I would have to sign off in case he messed up my electrical system. I mean seriously!

Try bringing in a jaguar to a car audio shop, its not fun. Everyone has a different opinion on how to take 10 hours to install a new deck. I've done most of it and I'm almost done. (It did take a lot longer than usual)

So please don't play the "don't be cheap" card. Money is really not an issue for me. I don't want some kid dismantling my car for no reason without proper knowledge.

If you can recommend someone in Vancouver with actual car audio knowledge that goes a little further than switching a wiring harnesses in a honda civic let me know and I really would love take the car to them. << Not just being sarcastic seriously let me know.

May I ask how you found out this info,As you only have 4 posts

I will give you those older Jags are a real pain,But not that hard.So how did you manage to make the mounting kit.

Haha, I gotta say that if someone brought an older jag into my shop that they had already worked on, I would come up with some excuse about how I can't work on it.

just switch the power wires on the deck backwards to the 2 power wires on the harness. or take it to a professional next time.

maltesechicken: You are right I should have a multimeter. there is no excuse.

TomF1: Out of all the installers I've seen and forums i've been on; I think you hit the nail right on the head! Thank you for your suggestion. When I find someone here in Vancouver who will touch the car and knows what they are doing I will get them to install the relay system you suggested. Excellent!!

cavy man: "As you only have 4 posts" ... re-read my post.

The car didn't need a new mounting kit, the way the factory deck sat, it looked like it would need one because of the slanted sides, but after the deck was removed it was obvious that it was indeed a standard din mount. The after-market deck does sit a bit further back in the console though.
