Im an idiot... deck power problems, please help
 

Well I was fooling around with my head unit and me being an idiot had the head unit and my dvd player sitting on the passenger seat playing with wires all over. ( I know how stupid this is and/or was so you really don't need to tell me how stupid it was. Anyway a long story short either the battery or the ground wire hit the metal of the deck casing. It sparked and both the dvd player and the deck shut off. So my first thought was that I blew a fuse, I checked the fuses and they all seemed ok. My next thought was maybe I killed the deck somehow so I went and got the factory deck and still nothing. So if anyone has a solution or any idea's of what I can/should do, I would really appreciate it.

Incase the information is needed, the car is a 1999 sunfire and the deck is a Pioneer DEH-P930.

which fuse did you check? the one on the back of the cd payer? check your fuse pannel and find the one for the radio and you will most likey find your problem

I checked the fuse in the fuse panel and also the fuse along the wire behind the center console.

how about any fuses under the hook i know my grand am had 3 fuse panels, this might sound stupid but is there a fuse anywhere on the ground wire?

Well ive only noticed 2 fuse panels. 1 Was to the left of the steering wheel and those fuses all looked fine. Then there was one under the hood and all those fuses were fine. There was 2 fuses along the wires behind the center console, 1 was along the battery wire and it looked fine. The other I don't remember whioch wire it was along but there was a little orange mark on the glass of the fuse.

Check all your fuses in the panel not just the radio one. Some decks wont come on if there is no memory or constant power. It may be hooked to your dome light circuit for you memory and if its gone it wont work. Check them all with a test light.

is it just the radio/deck that is not turning on, and receiveing poweR? or is a whole line of devices not working? Check in your owners manual under fuses, adn then look for radio. When i blew the fuse in my car for the deck, the digital radio would not come on so i looked for the fuse. There was a 20A fuse that was in the circuit for the radio, digital clock and other things.

Process of elimination
 

Find out if you can power the deck directly from the fusebox(or battery), double check the fuses carefully, a meter helps.(try alternating them, or replacing them).
Use a process of elimination to find the problem.
