im new to this, please help.

Is it possible to hook up 2 or 3 subwoofers to a single amp? I plan on buying 3 alpine subs off a guy as well as a 750w alpine amp ... he says he had the subs all hooked up to the single amp ... just curious how this is possible?!

... i plan on using to subs for sure, not so sure about where i am goin to throw the third.

please help

thanx.

As long as you keep the ohm load for the amp right you can hook up 20 woofers to a single amp. What model subs? size? What kind of box are you planning to use? What car is this going into? Give us as much info as possible and you will get the best advice possible.

they are alpine r series 12s ... im making my own boxes tho ... lol i recently purchased a sweet 03 chevy express van, so im not really tight on space. im making a 'bar' inside the van, with a wall mounted tv and some other goodies ... soooo excited for camping trips this summer. Just want a decent sound system too ... i had a chevy cavaleir ... but it was sooo tight on space when i needed to transport my drums from gig to gig, i could never give up the space for that.

3 type r's on a 750 watt alpine amp arent going to sound as nice as you think.
Each woofer is gonna get like 150rms each and they are able to take upwards in 600rms. I suggest looking at a new amp with more power.

Also, do you know the voice coil configuration of the woofers? dual 2 or dual 4 ohm

Yeah I have 2x10s in a sealed 2cu' box and no usable trunk space at all. I was just going to say the same thing as jalat posted it. That amp is not going to be enough to power 3 of those subs.

Depending on the voice coil configuration and your bass desires....i'd probably sell the Alpine, and get a 1ohm stable 2000 watt amp to run all 3 subs in a big *** ported box!

I'd go sealed with 3 of these subs. You still get a lot of output. And it feels like it hits harder.
