Installing aftermarket head unit into '02 Grand Prix w/Bose?

Which exact model PAC device and wiring harness's or similar do I need to swap in an aftermarket head unit into an '02 Grand Prix with the factory bose speakers/amp? Swapping out the old speakers is not an option at this time.
I also have On-Star but I dont need that to work. Thanks.

You should ask PAC.

You'll get lots of opinions on here, but you'll still have to ask PAC when you buy it.

i had a 99 GTP with the bose, i swapped out the factory HU for an alpine unit (and later a pioneer, boo) and everything worked just the same, no extra parts needed.
check out www.oqcgp.com/forum for more info on grand prix's specifically. i'm janaka from that board :)
welcome

Thanks guys. Ah yes, good 'ol OQCGP ... been there a time or two. I would be fade2black over there ;)

So you didnt have any issues with the 2 ohm speakers / amp etc? You just used the same harness? Whats the big deal then with getting the PAC?

i had no issue at all. just use the wiring harness you can pick up at CT or futureshop and you are good to go. never heard of NEEDING the pac unit for just a HU install.
its a cake walk

Sounds like the way to go. In doing some more reading it appears that the PAC boxes maintain the door chimes and other things that go "ding" inside the car. Not really a concern. I have On-star too, but its useless to me, so I'll try your suggestion. Thanks.

the chimes are there for a reason. You'll need the chimes to certify it to sell it.
But that won't matter, nobody will want to buy it with the keys locked inside and a dead battery from not having any chimes.
Your re-sale value will also be less without the onstar, but that won't matter, nobody will want to buy it with the keys locked inside and a dead battery from not having any chimes.

thats odd that in all my YEARS of owning my GP I never had the battery go dead from having a deck in the car. further i had the car safetied with the deck in and there were no issues. and lastly GM has changed the onstar service recently and will no be able to offer service on the older onstar cars ( like this one iirc) anyway in a few years. so go blow it out your a$$.

jk on the last part

Yes, according to on-star, vehicles with analog only systems will be hung out to dry jan 1, 2008.
