Installing a relay-Isolator - help
 

I'm very new to this stuff. And this is my attempt to figure out what I need.
I do have a couple of amps , but this whole set up is for my westy and geard towards using while the vehicle is turned off. - so I havent included them. its a 1982 westy with an 84 jetta engine in it. ( was previously a diesel)
The current wire from alt to the batt has no fuse, and it looks like 8 AWG at best.
I would just like to know if you guyes think I should be using different gauge of wire ( I already have a bunch of 4 AWG and wouldn't mind using it rather than 2 gauge but maybe it is nessesary ? I don't know... For the AUX battery , Im not sure what I should get other than a Deep cycle marine battery ( sealed ) because it will be inside the vehicle. brand ? size ? marine battery terminals ? online canadian wire/accessories supplier?

First thing I would recommend is figuring out how much power the system will draw, you mention you have a couple of amps but no details.
You may find that the Aux battery will die faster than you anticipate due to the current requirements of the system.

Also a 70a alternator is not exactly stout. You may want to research your options for stepping up the output of the alternator to deal with the heavy recharge requirements of the aux battery (or maybe "batteries" after you determine your requirements.

Then once you know the alternator rating, you can start planning on your wiring upgrades.

I know 70 amps is a weak alt. thats why I took the amps out of the equation. This diagram is the set up that I am going to use.

I mean if you guyes make any suggestions. - what fuse size should I use between the alt and battery , and should I use 80 amp fuses instead of 200 amp for the isolator ? I happened to notice that a 200 relay isolator kit comes with two 80 amp fuses.... and other stuff

Has anyone else ever heard of a fuse ?? LOL
