are there any downsides to doing this??is power handling the same?will it be as loud or will it sound like ass?

JohnnyToronto 03-15-2004 04:03 PM

Might not be as loud, doubt it would sound any worse. Upside is more enclosure space (so u could build a slightly smaller box) and usually most good subs have nice underbodies so it would look visually better.

It's basically all the same. My Sub is inverted. And there is no sound differance from standard mounting.

carkilla 03-15-2004 06:48 PM

yeah thats why i want to mount it like that.i dont have much room to work with.with around a 1000w i wont be to concerned about it being a bit lower in volume.

Mine's upside down. Both stroker and my Ti. Works good.

There will be no sound difference with inverting a sub. They have the same handling and sound from both sides. Go with the inverted if you are tight for space.

Inverting is not a good idea if your worried about space, if your inverting, your not worried about taking up space on exterior of your enclosure and just want to display the rear of the driver in the install. The up side is your enclosure can be smaller, as you wont have to include speaker displacement in your calculations. Plus, depending on how creative you are, it can be quite sweet looking when don right

it more that i only have about 5" hight for my box but the sub has 7" mounting deapth.im gona basicly jam the sub in the far corner of the trunk and build a grill for it so i dont take up to much room.but these subs do look sweet and i think it will look awsome when done,

JohnVroom 03-20-2004 08:22 AM

If you ever compete in SPL the added height from reverse mounting could hurt you if they go over the lip of the 'trunk' in a SUV or hatchback. (at least according to USACi and MECA and I believe DB Drag) I dont have my USACi rule book yet
