JL CleanSweep or AudioControl LC6
I'm talking about any system that's amplified.
A $169 Pioneer has essentially the same guts as their top of the line stuff....OK 24 bit DAC's aren't there, but the signal that comes from the pre-amp stage is relatively clean and flat to below the limits of most sub systems.
Not so with most OEM decks.
All that being said, I haven't had the luxury of trying either of those pieces, and I'm anxious to hear how it works.
I'm saying that the bass is tighter, deeper, and more defined with a decent pre-amp, than by using an OEM deck with an LOC.
Cosmetically, most OEM decks are superior, and not everyone wants to sacrifice that.

ok its done,,,
I'm not overly impressed though.
It sounded far better with my previous setup in the old car.
Here's the variables involved:
Same amp and sub, versus the upgraded front speakers, the new LC6, and the factory head unit in place of a nice Sony head unit.
The prob I see so far is that the LC6 isn't doing its described job.
Pre install, the stock Civic stereo liked to greatly diminish the bass at higher volumes,,and its just ok at lower volume.(what can u expect from stock speakers) But at lower volumes the highs were VERY weak.
Post install,,the same problem exists!!
The only difference is that it's a lot louder and the bass distorts all to hell on some songs and it never did before.
I asked the installer and the owner about another option, JL Cleansweep, and both replied that it gives-off a hissing sound.
WTF
