Just bought a used system need help wiring it :/

So Im kinda new to car audio and need some help ...I just bought four american bass xd8s with dual 4 ohm voice coils 600w max and they came in two boxes with two subs to each box , each box has only a positive and negative leaving the box and it appears that the subs are wired in series? inside the box because red going in splits into two and goes to positive of voice coil A on both subs with jumper from negative on voice coil A both subs which goes to positive of voice coil B on both subs and then negative from voice coil B both subs merges back into a single black and exits box... when I tested the ohms at the positive and negative leaving the box it read 4 ohms...heres specs the amp I bought with them

General Features:

  • XD Series Monoblock Car Amplifier
  • RMS Power Rating:
    • 4 ohms: 245 watts x 1 chan.
    • 2 ohms: 450 watts x 1 chan.
  • Max power output: 1800 watts x 1 chan.
  • Mono channel operation
  • Variable high-pass filter (xx-xxx Hz, 24 dB/octave)
  • Variable low-pass filter (xx-xxx Hz, 24 dB/octave)
  • Subsonic filter (24 dB at 15 Hz)
  • -->
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio: >95dB
  • Channel Separation: >50dB
  • RMS Power @ 4 ohms245 watts x 1 channels
RMS Power @ 2 ohms450 watts x 1 channels

Amplifier Specifications

Amplifier SeriesXD (American Bass)
Number of Channels1 - Mono
Total Peak Power Output1800 watts
Total RMS Power Output450 watts
Maximum Input Gauge Size4 AWG
Minimum Impedance Unbridged2 ohms
THD at Rated RMS Power.05%
Signal-to-Noise Ratio95 dB
Channel Separation50 dB
Fuse Rating25A x 2

Would y'all change this setup? If I were to Wire each box in parallel and put positive from both boxes to positive on amp and negative from both boxes to negative of amp would that get me down to 2 ohms and give me more power ? Or should I daisy chain all four subs and only hook one ppsitive and one negative to the amp ?Could these subs handle 450 watts rms @ 2ohm if they are a 600w max sub? Or would the fact that I'm planning pushing two boxes from the same channel make it less than 450 watts rms ? Help me pleassseee

i think those subs could use a bit more power, but the amp is capable of running @ 2 ohms so i would wire the subs down to 2 ohms and run that.. I'm pretty sure you're gonna want a more powerful amp for 4 subs though

so each sub are wired in series by itself and then into parallel with the other sub that's in the same box I believe and that's how you get the a final load of 4 ohms, if you wire the positive on each box with each other and the negatives with each other and hook that up to the amp you should be getting a load of 2 ohms.. DBL check with a mm to make sure . but I've looked up the subs you got and it seems like there's people out there that's giving them 450 Watts rms to ONE sub.. though its rated for 300rms giving it clean power just a bit over rating shouldn't hurt it. you'll be fine running those subs with that amp... perhaps that's the only thing I would change, the amplifier . you're gonna need more juice for those subs I'm sure,

Yea I was planning on getting a bigger amp in future because I wired my car with big three upgrade and 1/0 g amp power and ground wires... what amp would y'all suggest for these four subs ? A sundown 3500 ?

go with a 1200 - 1500 watt rms amp or even 2k rms amp but I wouldn't push it any more than 2k

Ok I found an amp on Facebook marketplace guy says it's a 2000w rms massive audio amp, comes with wires and an optima blue top battery for $150 , better to be overpowered and turn the gain down than to be underpowered I've heard

yup yup, good to have the power on tap than to be lacking, good luck with the install sir! and there's amps out there that are way overrated in some cases.. generally I look at the fuses on it, say a 25 amp fused amplifier would be able to give out about 300-400 watts depending on voltage... typically, said amp would be rated for 300watt rms..but some brands, like boss, highly overrate their products.. just a heads up!
volts * amps = watts ( 14.4 * 25 = 360 )

You were correct after wiring the two boxes of two subs to the amp I'm getting a 2ohm reading at the amp.. and you were also right about me needing more power lol if disconnect one of the boxes will that allow more power to the box I leave plugged in?

I haven't looked at the gain or anything but at the settings the professional installer had them set at it is deff underwhelming.. I was hoping that it would be kinda close to what a sundown audio would hit like.. prob just need more powerrrrr lol also the boxes they are in are pretty small.. is there somewhere I can find out what size box they should be in to sound best?

dont think so, if you disconnect 1 of the boxes your impedance will go back up to 4 ohms which will then be getting less power, you could try a bold move and run your 2 woofers in 1 box all in parallel and try to play with a 1 ohm load , but it's risky if the amp is not rated to play that low.. it'll cut in and out when the bass hits or it'll go in protect mode.. or worse.
