Kenwood deck shuts off when I turn the volume past 21
As the title says, I just did an install in my friends car. The system is as follows:
Kenwood head unit
2 Kenwood 10" subwoofers
Hifonics 1000w rms amp
4 gauge wiring kit
Now I am having problems with the deck shutting off when I start to turn the system up. It seems like it goes into protect and then it comes back on shortly. The deck shuts off as the decks backlight starts to dim, which makes me believe it may of been a power/ground issue. When the car is running, the deck shuts off at a higher volume. The vehicle is a 1984 Porsche 944. The wiring in there looks kinda sketchy from a previous install and it looks like there is a fused constant power in there.
Should I run a new power wire to the deck or what do you suggest?

Agreed with above.....
80's german wiring could be the culprit as well, they did some weird #$*^ in them.
Many a time I have been foiled by it, I then just started running everything new and building an accessory fuse panel that I powered straight from the battery and relayed(what needed to be) off the accessory from the key switch.
Atleast then you know its solid. That was always my thought.

rewire the deck to the battery and make a new ground.. im sure before the deck shuts off u see the display dim right?? and its prob hot as too.. its either overdriven to run speakers or the wireing is bad for the power and ground
