So here goes, I'm thinking of getting a new car like a Acura TL or a Volvo R that has 300+horse. Anway I have never had leather interior always cloth.
This might sound stupid yet i'll ask it anyway.
Will the bass from the trunk go through the back seats better or worse than if the car had cloth seats?

Let me know what you all think.

I can't truly say leather is "better" than cloth. But I do own and explorer with leather and personaly prefer it over cloth. Do the leather.

yes thanks yet your explorer is an open concept suv and it's not sectioned off like in a regular car with a trunk.
I"m trying to find people that have an audio system that have leather in a car with a trunk.

My old car had leather (2dr accord), and my new car is the same year (4dr accord)with cloth. No difference in the sound from one car to the next.

Take a square metre of leather (probably actually vinyl in the back) and get someone to hold it over their face and go BOOM BOOM BOOM.

Repeat with a good cloth similar to seat cloth.

Chances are you will notice little difference.

Now, repeat with 3" of high density foam. HERE you will notice impressive attenuation.

From this your choice is clear - get rid of the back seat altogether, or at least the foam.

:D

As always you guys are a helpfull bunch.

It's just i'm sure that cloth interior is more breathable then Leather, no?

Well I see someone is light on the sense of humour today...

Oh and: no.

What I would check out more is if the Volvo has a solid metal seat back. Been to that party with a couple of BMWs and that really kills the output.

Also consider the factory head unit - if you plan on an aftermarket one, some cars (I think like the TL) may make that kind of tough..

yeah i have a sence of humor. I liked your suggestion with the boom boom thing it was funny..
I guess I will have to look into this more than I thought.
do you or anyone out there have leather and can you feel the bass?

JRace 12-16-2005 04:19 PM

What im chopped liver?

Same car, same box, same amp, same head unit, same freakin wire, same songs, NO DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!

Yes I could feel the bass in my old car.

Also if you remove the rear speakers this will help 'some'.
