I've heard the Lexus windows are extra thick or something - aiding greatly in interior noise levels.

What exactly is the difference from a normal car?
Is it something that could be retrofitted to any car?

Has anyone swapped their windows or treated them somehow to aid in sound rejection?

thanks - I seem to have too many questions no answers - eh?

*Drooling* Lexusss.... Yeah they're thicker for safety and interior noise levels. If u ever notice they also made it like that around the hood of the car so the engine is quitter to u.

BMW and Mercedes used to have double paned side windows in their upper end cars. They've droped that now due to the extra weight added. Still a pretty cool feature though, pretty hard for sound to permiate through an absolute vacuum between the panes.

the windows are thicker...

Between the fire wall and the car their are actually Sand fill cavities, to help prevent noise and aid fire safety.... Its pretty expensive to incorporate this into a car, may sound easy to throw sand in a hole... but to do it effectively is alot harder...

Pretty cool design... Ive never been in a quieter/smoother riding vehicle than the lexuses ive driven.

The C5 Corvete used Balsa wood for insulation in parts of the car.

I've considered double paning car windows for sound deadening, has anyone done this as part of an isntall?
