Low Volume with Pioneer U310bt and 04 350z with Bose
Installed a Pioneer Avic U310bt in my 04 350z with bose speakers using this harness:
Metra harness 70-7551 (has the RCA's instead of speaker wire)(please google search, not allowed to post links yet)
I connected the RCA's to the appropriate out's on the Pioneer head unit. I get sound but it's very low. I have to turn the volume all the way up to 62 (the max) for it to be decent. What could be wrong?
I have also seen these little box type harness modules, would this fit the problem?
PAC ROEMNIS2 Factory Premium Sound Interface Headunit Replacement (please google search, not allowed to post links yet)
What does the little box do that the Metra harness doesn't?
Thanks for any help in advanced!

The factory system will use BTL signals while the Pioneer uses unbalanced RCA outputs. The Metra harness changes the connector to the proper type but does not change the signal type. I'm only guessing here but the little box on the PAC harness is probably an active circuit that does the job properly.
I had the same issue you described with the factory Bose system in my old maxima. I had to reverse engineer it in order to figure it out. The BTL signals are more resistant to electrical noise but they aren't really necessary.
