whats the diff between passive and active. i always hear ppl talking about going "active"

active eliminates the crossover?

is the 3 settings your talking about called the jumper on the crossover

An 'active' system has an amplifier channel for each speaker. The crossover function is done before the amplifier or within the amplifier. Passive uses the crossover boxes you have.

The crossover will have a jumper for the tweeter levels. There may be jumpers for other things as well so be sure you know what you are looking at.

Yes the jumpers, and active means that you need an electronic crossover to split the signals for the tweeter and midrange (these days many decks have these, as well as amplifiers, but it's much more complicated to run as you also need a separate amplifier channel for each speaker..in this case 4 channels, 2 for tweets and 2 for mids). The electronic crossovers in the deck and amps may not be versatile enough to actually do the job either, so there's a lot more to it.
