mounting subs

ok, i really need sum advice here and i'm getting really frustrated

i've put hours and hours into a custom box for my truck, and everything is

finally done, and yesterday my subs and amp arrived! i was stoked!

so i start installing everything, doing the wiring and whatnot.

and now i'm ****ing stuck. literally, my one sub is stuck in the box. i'm using

#8 screws with those spiked washers to mount the subs (they are downfiring

so they need to be held in TIGHT). some of the screws grabbed the washers,

and others just spun. so i finally got one sub out, as mos tof the screws

were stuck. turns out the washers snapped on some of them, and spun (kinda

drilled) circles in the inside of the box.

i'm so frustrated now, i have no clue how i'm suppose to mount my subs now.

i'm one step away from bringing it to an audio shop, but i really don't want to

since i've put countless hours into my system, and done EVERYTHING myself

(wiring, sound dampening, fusing, batteries........everything)

i need help bad

confused.... you over tightened them? ive always just used deck screws... drill little holes first then tighten to screws up.... usually by hand so i dont go over tightening them and having them not hold....

how much power will you be pushing?

around 450 wrms per sub (seperate enclosures)

i usually just use deck screws to, but since they are downfiring in a small

space (around .75 cft each) i figured i should use a bolt style system.

since i have already drilled the holes out, i can't go back to deck screws.

i have to use some sort of bolt system, but i'm not sure what to use or how

uhhhh i cant remember what they are called that im thinking of but like if you go and get the bolt and put it through the hole with threads on the outside then you get like a T looking nut and you can easilly tighten them up with your fingers...lots of SPL guyz use them when they plan on taking the sub out lots....

u used these right?

yea i got them mixed up... what i was thinking was wing nuts...

then take a bolt like this one that has the rounded side and on the thread side has like a square.... then drill a little hole on the side of mdf that will be the inside of the box and pound that in...maybe put bunch of glue of some sort or something to make sure it wont turn ....then slide the sub in...holes over the threads and then screw on the wing nut

i think that would work

i like that idea, but i can see two problems happening with that

1 is that the subs have 10 holes each, so getting all 10 bolts glued in and

aligned properly may be difficult. also, the subs are jl w6v2's, and the

mounting plates have pretty small sunken holes, so a wing nut wouldn't

turn and would probably just crack the plate

i went out and looked at it again, and it seems that everytime i try to

tighten them, the female end pops out. most of them are ****ed now

so i will probably go pick up more, and glue them in, i think that will solve the

problem. now i just gotta find a way to get the stuck sub out.......i have no

clue how though

ya, so i think with the other sub this is what happened. i pushed to hard when

threading, and it popped out the nut from the mdf. now when i dry to

unscrew it, the nut is just spinning in the air! now how am i suppose to get

them out!?!?
