So today I finally attempted to install my headunit I had purchased 3 years ago in my truck. I have a Dodge Ram 1500 (2005). It was pretty easy with the wiring harness. I had everything hooked up, reconnected the battery did a test to make sure it powered up and it worked fine. I taped up all the connections screwed the unit in place and then turned it on again but this time I had no sound. I took it back out to check all my connections, they all seemed fine. Now when I tried to use the radio it just keeps scanning, the antenna is plugged in and still no sound. I put a cd and its the same story no sound and now I can't eject the cd. I put my stock deck back in and it won't even turn on. I checked the fuse in fuse panel and it seems fine. Anyone have any ideas what else I can check?

What about everything else electrical in your car?

Do you have a multimeter?

Does your stock deck require a security code?

what headunit ?

if Dodge Ram 1500 (2005) has a stock amp and you are not powering it up (no sound)

radio it just keeps scanning (your antenna is it a powered antenna?)

The strange thing is it was working, then I disconnected it and put my stock deck back in because I forgot I had left a cd inside. When I reinstalled my new headunit it powered up but there was no sound. So I pulled it back out put my stock deck back in, it powered up but there was no display (clock) or sound. So after I rechecked my connections I ended up putting my original stock unit in and now it won't power up at all. The headunit I am using is a rockford fosgate RFX9300. Its a few years old but brand new I've had it for 2 or 3 years just never installed it. The antenna is not a powered one. I don't think there is a stock amp. I just have the basic 4 speaker system, not the infinity 7 speaker system that comes with some models.
