Hey guys and gals,
First time poster on this forum, so I have a couple of questions. I have a 4 channel Pioneer GM-D8604 Amp 1200W Peak, Head Unit is an AVH-P6300BT, and an Alpine SWR-12D4 Sub. The way I have it set up is as follows: The HU runs one set of RCA cables for door and dash speakers, and another for the Sub. All door speakers and tweeters (4 Door, 2 Dash) are run on one channel, and the Sub is bridged on the other (300W RMS@4Ω). The DVC is set up with a negative on the far left and positive on the far right with the two middle connected with a jumper. Finally for the question(s)......what impedance am I powering my sub? Is there a better way to hook it up? I plan on getting a Alpine PDX-M6 or PDX-M12 Amp to run just the Sub. I have a 3.5 Farad (Overkill, I know) Power Cap hooked up right now and the display reads a max of 13.5 while driving. Is that normal or should it read 14.4? This is all for now, and thank you so much in advance!! Btrep |
Don't bother with using a cap, it won't help. The door speakers run on one channel, or did you mean they run on one pair of channels?
The amp is seeing 8 ohms bridged for the sub, so it's getting 200w RMS. You could theoretically run the sub parallel (both negatives tied together on the sub, same with both positives), bridged at 2 ohms, and it'll get 250w. But the difference is minimal and you're better off getting a proper monoblock amp for your sub. |
I realize the cap is useless now, so how do I achieve the rated bridged 300w power? And yes it runs on one pair of channels.
