i just reinstalled my stereo in my new car. some new parts, some old. here is what i am running:

when i had this installed in my last car, i was running two MTX subs and hit 145.5 at the dash. this new install isn't hitting hard at allll... it runs, and its better than nothing.. the lows are OKAY, but its not sounding near as good as it should. my brother has a little hyundai accent, and his single pioneer 12" sub sounds 10 times better than what i'm running.

when highs play, the subs just start floating if the gain is up at all. my amp has external base control, so i can just turn it down, but i think there is something wrong. i know there's plenty of variables, i'm thinking its something basic, such as the wiring. can anyone familiar with the amp give me directions on how the subs should be wired? lookin for any suggestions at all....

 

It could have to do with your new car what was it in before? What is it in now, is it the same box you used for youre mtx subs?

 

my old car was a 2002 4 dr pontiac sunfire, new car is a 2007 4 dr ford focus.
i just bought the subs about a month ago because the mtx's blew long ago.. i bought a new box along with the subs... .8cuft x 2, as the specs for the subs call for. this box is a bit smaller than the box the MTX's were in, if i remember correctly..

 

Way to small of a box for those subs. Are they in a sealed box or ported?

 

sealed - the box the subs came in, as well as on pioneer's website, recommend .8 cu. ft.


but something is obviously wrong with what i have... still thinkin too small a box??

you are not supposed to play highs thru your subs and a class D amp anyways.

 

Check your crossover it may be dialed in too low. Also check the phase of your subwoofers. If they are out of phase with each other you could be experiencing cancellation.
