If you're really having problems you could always try asking a member on JCO, I was actually trying to find the link they had that gave you everything you needed to know really and unfortunately I can't find it If I do I will post it up for sure though!

i had one of those cavaliers, first u need to remove the top of the dash. the only bolts holding that thing is bolts on each sides (u need to pop out the panels on each side (when you open the door), and there is also 2 bolts inside the glove compartement under your passenger airbag. then you need to pull up on the whole dash (there are a few clips holdind). now that the dash is out, u need to remove the plastic that goes around the HU, it has 3 bolts holding that on top, then you can pull it towards the back(there is a few clips holding that too). now that that is out, you have access to your HU!!!

oops i forgot a few bolts lol, i don't have that car anymore, taught i had em all, but know seing what you wrote, i remember.
