Hold the Audio button dow for 3 seconds...that gets you into the sub-menu for the parametric EQ.
You can correct 3 major problems by varying the frequency and Q of the bass, midrange, and treble on that deck.....and every vehicle has at least that many major problems with the sound. Try using reduction of the most offending frequencies, rather than boosting ( and messing up) the tones that are already fine. If you need more gain from the deck after toning down the nasties, then you can boost it up (on CD anyways) with the ASL feature ( did I name that right?) (and who listens to FM pinned anyways!???). That's gotta be the most well thought out deck I've seen since the HPL-512 Concord. ( for those that remember cassette) It has everything you need to have a sub, with the deck driving the front, and a decent sound, without breakin the bank, and since decks are getting to be more and more "disposable", and it comes with a 2 year warranty..... very nice choice.
