problems powering deck ???
hi guys,
i've been reading up on this site for a while and i've learned alot. I'm having some problems with my brothers deck and would appreciate any suggestions.
I removed his deck to use in my car to test things out, but when i was putting it back in i thought i shorted something, cuz the power wire touched the antenna wire and sparked, and the deck wouldn't turn on after that. So i hooked the deck up to my car only to find out that it was still working (yes i know ur supposed to disconnect the battery first).
so i don't know why it won't power up in his car. He's got a 97 cavalier and its a bottom of the line pioneer deck. I checked the power wire with a multimeter, and i get 14.something volts when the car is started. So there is power going into the deck it just won't turn on, and the deck works cuz it works in my car???
i'm hoping theres a fuse box somewhere, but i can only find one under the hood?
any ideas would be very helpful, i can't figure out what could be the problem.

yup, turned out to be the fuses. Didn't check em cuz i didn't know where they were located, and since i was reading power at the deck end (through the 12V) line i didn't think it was the fuses.
thanks for ur response
