i have to put a deck into a friends pontiac sunfire and wanted to know how the install was for difficulty as i need to budget time. Is it a striaght forward proces to remove the deck and replace? someone said i have to pull the top of the dash...PITA?
also, do i need an antenna adoptor? cheers |
its a 98 BTW

The Cavalier has to have the dashpad removed, not the Sunfire.
Yes you will need an antenna adaptor. Any pro can do that car in 20mins or less and half that time is harness and kit prep |
actual in car work on that car is under 5 minutes to dismantle dash, remove stock and install new deck. the most time consuming part is building the harness.

IMAGINE HOW EASY it would be for a thief to get the deck....in my dads pontiac transport mini van its like 1 screw and boom everythign comes out. its a 2 minute job to remove deck. i put my old deck in his car took me about 20 minutes 15 on soldering and putting harness lol. let me point you to www.carstereohelp.com or installdr.com they will have the full p icture guidses on what to do.....least u dont have a honda which is a FARKING mofo to get to the deck......gotta love gm for makign stuff so easy guess they focus on that more then quality of their cars.

awsome...thanks guys...love how the tosser at the shop tried to tell me an extra long install :D
|
^ They may have thought it was a 2000 or newer. Most install shops will then default to a deck relocation kit and that does indeed take longer.
OR you were getting screwed |
Hmmm I'm thinking of askin someone to do my install if a cavalier is a pain by the looks of it lol
