Question About Speaker Cable Gauge

Alright this is my setup, I'll be running a pair of compvr's rated at 400wrms a piece wired at 2 ohms, so they'll see approx 1000 wrms from my amp. My question is, what gauge speaker wire should i be using to connect the subs to the amp? I'm planning on installing the amp right beside the cabinet which will probably mean that the speaker cables will only be around 3-5 feet long at the most. Thanks =)
