Yeah, I forgot about diplomatic cars. They can't dispose of them in the Canadian market however so that doesn't help the average Joe that wants one.

Show car/race car exemptions also don't get the car on the road at all.

I'm interested in this because I'd like to bring a GTO into Canada in a few years if there is a reasonable way to do so.

Would you be allowed to buy a car off of a diplomat if they didn't want it anymore?
Not that I will be doing this, but I'm just curious if anyone knows how that part of it works.

to the original poster...its just a normal nissan wiring harness, install would be nearly identical to a 300zx or 240sx/silvia

another way to get a newer skyline would be to get it in pieces and assemble it here...but that would require access to a garage in japan that would disassemble the car for you...

to everyone else interested, there are numerous importing companies that bring in cars from japan to canada, pm if you are interested in learning more

there are numerous non legal ways to get a car in canada, but im pretty sure the guys above have the legal methods covered.

basically, it comes down to, once its in country, race/show car or not, as long as you can find someone who will insure it for you, you can get it on the road.

Not exactly... you still have to show the DMV your documentation from Canada Customs to show that it was legally imported. Even then there are usually issues with the VIN.

and zinger is right... they go right down to the month on that 15 year thing.
