Radio Install wont power up

I am trying to install a new radio in my car, I bought the wiring harness for my car, which is a 2004 VW golf, and have all the wires connected, the wiring coming off of the harness went to the same colour coded wires on the new deck.

I have every wire set up except for the red wire which is for switched ignition voltage 12v+. This wire is left out of the wiring harness because it isnt used on the factory radio but is a seperate wire and is present on my new deck, so I connected the provide wire to the new deck, but I dont yet have a fuse tap to connect it to the fuse box in my car.

Now when I connect the wiring harness the new deck does not power on, is this due to the fact I have not connected the red wire to the fuse box? As the yellow wire is suppose to be the 12V constant. Is that what is causing my problem not having the red wire connected to the fuse panel?

You will have to hook up the red wire for it to turn on.

also check your yellow and orange wires... yellow is your ignition and orange is for the clock and stuff.

I know all about the can-bus system. I know for my dodge, the remote turn on, I connected to my cig lighter as it is only on when the ignition is on. Dont know about your VW but that is a option as well

I will keep that in mind when I wire it up have to wait for the new harness that works with the canbus system.
