Is a relay necessary? It was on my old setup to elimanate engine wine but that was later discovered to be from the head unit and its been replaced. On my new setup I didn't attach the wires from the relay to where ever they go. And now none of the amps work. No blown fuses. Also when I attached the power cord to the battery there was no spark and normaly there is. I forget how to wire up the relay. Also one of the amps has a REM inbetween the Power and Ground terminals, whats that for?

It is possible that the relay was wired in to the old deck to turn on more than one amp, off of the remote wire. The REM wire you asked about on the amp, is the remote turn on wire, it is triggered every time your deck turns on, to turn the amp on at the same time. This might help: http://ccs.exl.info/relays_turn_on.html

there are three wires from the relay, they must be power, ground and trigger wire

I've got two amps

what I'm thinking of doing is:

running those three wires to their respective locations then putting another wire from first tigger spot to second amps trigger spot,

that sound about right?

I'll take a long look at the relay to make sure thats what each of the three wires are

if you're powering 2 amps, then you will need 5 wires to the relay Power (Terminal 87), Ground (terminal 86), Trigger(remote from HU, Terminal 85), and one for the remote turn for each of the amps. both of those 2 would be connected to the same point, terminal 30.

I took the relay out, used the original remote turn on wire to first amp then ran a another wire from that spot to second amp. It works. I'm happy as a pig in **** now.

Although you run the risk of burning out the remote lead in your deck. Then you have to take the deck out and you're without tunes and some cash while the deck is being fixed.
For the small time it takes to install the relay, I would say it is worth it.

Ok good point, I'll see about getting it back on. The relay was put on in a attempt to elimanate engine whine but that was discoverd to be a problem from a faulty head unit. I guess it could come back if I don't put the relay back in.

I have done a lot in the past 24 hours with the system. Made some startling discovers such as blown rear speakers. Put in a set that came with my head unit and all is fine. The old 6x9's were capped to take away any bass as I have a sub for that. Well I don't think these new 6x9's need to be capped as they don't have any bass they are so cheap. Pioneer 120w max things, paper cone. I didn't notice there was no rear fill as the front speakers masked that part. Its freaken awesome having rear fill, to me that is better having music coming from the rear more then the front. Gives it a total imersive feeling.
