remote wire question

Hey guys, I just bought a Freeway DT-0538 (http://freewaychina-na.com/dt0538.html) head unit and am currently planning my installation. Would I be correct in assuming the ``sub out`` rca connection on the back of the deck is the remote connection? If so could I just use a AUX ``Y`` cable with the ends cut off the 2 sided end, in order to connect it to 2 amplifiers or would I need to splice into the ``sub out`` on the back of the deck?

hope this makes sense

Freeway DT-0538

I called the company and apparently I can plug in a GPS module and the XM Module into this system, but only one at a time.

Is there anyway you can have both hooked up at the same time and utilize them both

Also would anyone be able to give me some insight as to a XM and GPS module that I could use?

The head unit is cheap ($299.00) and if I can have the backup camera, XM, and GPS modules working on this I will scoop one up, unless someone has a different head unit with the retracting screen that wont cost me $1500 plus with the same bells and whistles.

I guess the final question is, does anyone know what extra components I would need to make sure this works with my OEM Discovery II amp/speakers and steering controls?

Thanks

What car/trunk are you working on? for a factory intergration wiring harness for an OEM amp you can try several places, start with googling "factory intergration wiring harness" with whatever car your driving. I belive pac-audio.com can help you out. I' sure that one of the vendors on this site can help you track down this equipment.

The more expensive units already have alot of these features built in. If you but the cheaper models and still want all the bells and whistles it might end up costing you just as much as buying the expensive one to begin with. good luck, try this....

It looks from that diagram that you have one set for front speakers and one set for your rears and one set or single rca for your sub?

The reason you could only play one at a time because there is only one video input,
so if you want several items hooked up you'll need an external video switcher ($20 for a manual one or $100 for a +12v one with remote control one)that will plug in your Back-up cam and your GPS at the same time. If the GPS doesn't have its own speaker built in then you will need to use to aux plug in the front of your unit to hear the directions

XM being only audio, you could try three things, buy a $30 RF adaptor so you don't get too much interferance or just simply tune the XM in on your FM radio, or use the front panel aux audio as long as your not using it for your GPS audio already?

You could use any type of GPS that has a video out. Again you can use any XM radio unit as all you connect is the audio by one of those three options

I won't suggest wiring this through a factory amp as its meant to be wired directly to the 4 ohm speakers but some amp integration harness aren't too bad

a steering wheel controller module is anywheres from $80 to $150 plus

The remote turn on is usually a blue wire, check to see if that blue power ant wire gives12v when you play a cd/dvd, if it still does, you can use that wire to turn on an aftermarket amp. I don't see a wire labeled "P.Cont" in that manual, that would normally be the wire to hook up to an aftermarket amp
