Remote Turn-On wire issue...

I recently purchased a new Alpine IVA-W200. It is hooked up to an Alpine MVA-W200 and one 10" Sub. As well I have a 1 farad Stinger Cap in the circuit. I purchased all new wiring and have double checked and triple checked the wiring.

Everything works perfect except that when the car is turned off or the HU is turned off the HU is still supplying around 11v to the remote turn-on wire (Blue/White wire which is weird). Which in turn is keeping the AMP on. I have checked the power coming right off the HU (Remote turn-on) as well as the right at the AMP and both are reading around 11v.

Was wondering if anyone can give me an idea? I talked to Alpine tech support (Well their recepionist did) and she came back and said the techs think it is a defective unit.

I would have to agree with the techs, when the HU is off, there should be no power on the blue control wire.

Kind of figured that. Just seems weird.

I guess I could just run it of the ignition wire that goes into the HU as well. I have never done that before but I am guessing it would be ok....

why dont u just bring it back to the shop u bought it from and be covered under warrenty

They want me to bring in my car to check it. Then if there is something wrong with the deck (99% sure), they will send it away to get fixed. They cant get my car in for 2 weeks and I dont want to wait that long. Then the stupid thing is they will just send it away to get repaired anyways. Would be quicker for me to send it to W.C. Enterprises in Ontario myself (Would be back in 2 weeks).

Stupid thing is I bought it two weeks ago and have the extended warranty on it. Pisses me off they can't just replace it. I guess the extended warranty doesnt kick in until the manufacturer is over.

Most companies offer 30 day over the counter exchange (electronics) for warranty units, then after that the manufacturers warranty kicks in. Ask them if they will do this for you,..... if you don't ask, you don't get.

Already called them and asked. Like I said I have to bring it in and they will check the car wiring and then if they determine the deck to be defective they will send it away to be fixed.

It is odd that they will not just give me a replacement specially after 2 weeks. Guess it is the last time I shop there.

Where did you get it from, if it is a shop like A&B they do have a 30 day return policy, just bring in the deck and tell them you want to return it, you just don't want it. If it is an indi shop, well then thats a diferent situation all together, thay tend to make up their own rules as they go along.

it may not be the deck for one. but did they install it? most companies would replace the head unit if they did the install. if it was done by your self for all they know any # of things could have taken place. makes sence to me that they r just being carfull and covering there own butts.

justinstall!

Well I had originally installed it with Butt end connectors. I decided to take the wiring out and solder it and heat tube shrink all the connections. Some of the butt connectors seemed like they were not holding well. Last time I use those.

I am guessing it was a bad ground connection as it now works. Turn off the car or HU and the voltage drops to 0v. Turn on the car or HU and the voltage jumps up to 12v now.

Thanks everyone for your help. Have a great night.
