Remote wire?

Im installing my amp at school. Ive got my remote wire, now my friend said the blue wire comming out of the back of the deck was the remote wire, and by crimping in the remote wire to the amp, the amp will only turn on when the deck turns on.

What he did was cut the blue wire coming out of the back of the deck in half, stripped both ends and crimped the wires back together with the remote wire inside it.

Is this correct? I dont want to start my car and blow something up.

dont have them, look'em up on the brands website.
but sometime their are 2 blue wires, one for remote and one for power ant,
the remote one is should be plain blue

Either way ur not going to hurt anything. If you have it on the power ant lead ur amp is just going to come on when ur listening to the radio thats all, so switch it
