Ok, i'm a complete noob at car audio so sorry for any question that may sound stupid....but when hooking up a remote wire to your head unit you tap it in to the accessory aka switched 12v wire but if there isnt a accessory wire where would you tap the remote wire into? would it be the Factory amp turn on wire? and if neither an accessory wire or factory amp turn on wire where would i hook it up to then? or does there have to be one if the wires?

 

To make it more simple...if there is No accessory wire to tap my remote wire into that I'm going to be connecting to a after market amp on a factory head unit or ignition harness,, where else would i tap into?...not looking for a specific car.

The remote wire is only to be use to switch on other devices (amps, crossovers, line drivers etc). If you do not have any other devices, just tape the end of the remote wire and leave it....
In other words, the remote wire is a 12 volt out, not 12 volt in. If you connect this wire to the battery or to any 12 volt source, you can potentially fry your deck...

 

The remote wire will be going into an after market amp from a factory head unit... I know that you tap it in to the accessory switched 12v wire... but i was wondering where would you tap it if there was NO accessory switched 12v wire??....would you tap it into the factory amp turn on wire if there was one??

 

That would be a good trick, he doesn't have a remote out on his factory deck.
You should probably read the post before answering........

 

Short answer is yes. There is always something that gets turned on when you turn the key. It doesn't have to have a flashing sign that says "Use me to turn on aftermarket amp". Fuses and relays are good.

I used the remote turn on to the factory amp to turn on the LOC connected to the factory deck outputs.
Then I used the delayed remote turn on built into the LOC to turn on the relay that switched the power that used to power the factory amp and used that to turn on 6 amps.
Then i tore all that out and went with an aftermarket deck too.

So I could tap my remote wire into the factory amp turn on, or my accessory wire.. and if there is neither of those i could use accessories from my fuse block??....correct?....and 1 more question... I need to power the LOC? i thought you just match the speaker wires to the wires on the lock then hook up the RCA cables then the RCA cables to the amp?
