Run amp at 1ohm???
i have a PPI PCX-1250 amp, and its rated at 500rms at 2ohm's, i want to buy a 15'' kicker L7, rated at 1000rms with dual 2ohm voice coils i can run my amp at 1ohm... however is this a good idea, im not sure if this amp is 1ohm stable, and wheather to do this or not??
Yup L7s come in dual 4ohm
Jason, were you thinking that if you dropped to 1 ohm you would be able to get the 1000 watts you need?
While there some amps that will double the power at half the impedance this is not always the case. There are many amps that will give no power increase and simply heat-up more. My advice is go with a dual 4 ohm L7; OR get a second PCX-1250 and use one amp per 2 ohm coil. That will give you the 1000wrms you want.
