Setting up new system
#1
Hi everyone. I have a 2dr Chev Blazer and I am starting to upgrade the factory sound system. I bought a Alpine 9835 head unit and am really happy with it so far. The next thing is speakers. I have 6 facotry speakers currently. There are 2 in the dash and doors and 2 in the back. I plan on upgrading all of the speakers as I don't want to loose any. The plan is to upgrade the dash speakers then put components in the door with the tweeter and run an amp for those with a sub. The rest would run of the head unit. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the best install for SQ would be?? Also does anyone have experience with adding a PAC unit for the factory steering wheel controls, or is there another way to integrate the factory sterring wheel controls?? Thanks for any info!! I would advise to get the best comps you can afford and put them in your doors. Try the tweeter mounted a bit higher up like in the A-pillers and add a sub in back. Give adequate power to each driver.
See how it sounds from there and decide if you still need to add more drivers.

In my experience, the best thing to establish sound stage is to have the tweets right beside the mid-bass driver. Then have both facing you. the type of crossover has lots to do with also, since different octave slopes and CO types affect dispersion. The best speakers I've heard for the buck so far... in my experience like I say) are Lanzars opti-drive or NEO line. I was blown away by how great they sounded for a reasonable price.
