NEWBIE WARNING

I was warned that sparkes would fly if you just connect the ground and power wires straight to the amp, the amp came with a resistor that i guess you have to connect somehow for 45 seconds
to charge the internal caps.

Could someone please be insanely specific as to where i put this resistor so I don't start a fire
Thanks

The Soundstream amps of yesteryear and maybe some of the new Power Acoustik junk that they are now calling Soundstream have had some huge low esr cap banks in them. Take the fuse out of the power line at the battery. Hook up the ground and power wire at the amp. Attach the resistor as a jumper in the fuse holder up front for about a minute. This will slowly bring the charge voltage up so that the cap bank does not want to go into Cardiac Arrest. Once a minute has gone by the charge voltage should be up around 12 volts. Check with a meter if you have one. Once it is removed the resistor and replace the fuse, you are good to go. Make sure that when you do this you have doused yourself in gasoline and have someone watch for sparks in your teeth.
