SQ Install in a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz
I am looking at doing a from scratch system in a Veracruz. I initially planned on going with a local dealer (I am located in Stratford and consider anything from London to KW "local"). The problem is that I have already accumulated a fair bit of gear while planning this project from various local sales and online (Audison LRX 5.1K, VRX 2.150, Hybrid L6SE, L3SE, L1R2). I still need a HU and am leaning towards the Pioneer p99rs so source and processing are all in one unit and one or two SQ type subs (totally lost on this one currently having considered JL, Morel, Focal, TC Sounds, etc) I am now not sure if a local dealer would be interested in doing something mixing my stuff with new stuff. I also haven't really been sure that the dealers were on the same page as I was.
I have been into high end home audio for years (tube, custom horn speakers, Quad ESL, Oracle Turntables, etc) but I am new to car audio. I am decent with a soldering station and have decent mechanical common sense but no formal automotive experience. I am looking at doing a decent SQ setup, have no interest in SPL and want the maintain a fairly stock look. I would like to do extensive sound installation (I recognize the value of the acoustic environment as evidenced by the mountain of sound treatments in my home theatre). I am probably looking at some custom fabrication work (either A pillars or kick panels for the mid/tweets and a fibreglass sub box). I guess the real questions are: 1) Do you think any local shop is worth even talking to about this type of job? 2) If not is it crazy to consider DIY? 3) Does anyone know any custom installers in Southwestern Ontario that are not associated with a shop that would be interested in a job like this? Thanks Dan |
DIY. TC LMS ultra if you have the money
