I'm asking this for a friend, but how would you run an amp and sub off of a factory deck that doesn't have preouts and the amplifier doesn't have high level inputs? Can you rig up rca's off of the speaker wires? And also which speaker wires would you splice off? (front or rear?) And also what would you use for a remote signal, just an auxillary fuse? thanks for the help guys!

LOC to get RCA inputs.
Remote, yeah, find an accessory wire to tap off of, perhaps adding a relay and fusing. |
^^like NEWB said, I usually use a line out converter(LOC) spliced to the rear speaker wires(left +/-, right+/-). As for the remote, I normally put a toggle switch up front running of a key-on(switched with the ignition key)supply of at least a 10 amp fuse rating running from the fuse box. Worked great on my Mach 460 sound system in my 94 stang and my 92 Grand prix.

Thanks a lot guys

a kloc isnt required on all of the new alpine v sereies amps, solder rca wires onto the hilevel(speaker) leads and your good to go

You can rig em off your speakers, but it will sound bad, you'll be better off getting a line converter, wal-mart has em for around 10 bucks I think..
