I'm about to install my Eclipse Ti into my Lancer. I'm going to have it invert-mounted and screwed down from the inside of the enclosure.

What I want to know is if there's anything other than good screws that will hold this 43 pound sub down in case it wants to depart from my enclosure in a collision and decide to decapitate someone.

If there are any good screws, what should I be looking for?

Use American Racing Products (ARP) bolts and nuts. They are designed for high perf. engines.

Highest grade I can think of.

LOL, on a side note I do have a set of ARP head bolts...but I'm going to use that on my engine head. I'm not going to part another 100 bucks for some overkill security. [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img]

why not just some smaller grade 8 bolts?

 

What I attempted to say above was that there are nuts that anchor themselves into the inside of the box. You run bolts through the sub, through the box and they pull these nuts right into the MDF.

This way the threads can't strip out the MDF. I'm sure you could find these at a Home Depot.

they're called t-nuts, i got mine from canadian tire in the bolt and screw section, they have them in the little plastic packs....i think they were around the 1.50 mark for a pack of six, and i got a box of screws to fit for 3.50 or so for 50. by far the cheapest and most effective part of my system

yeah, the'll have to be matched. I've been building PA cabinets for quite some time, and T-nuts are common practice.. i've used them in every box I build.
