Subs and Amp Question

Hey guys just have a quick question about some subs and an amp, basically I am looking to buy this package:

http://www.bestbuy.ca/EN-CA/product/id/10091236.aspx

I know its not going to be top of the line but while Im tight on money it will do, my question is off that amp would I be alright if I added another 12" sub to it and had 3 running off it instead of 2?

Thanks guys.

In a word.....no.

The amp is 2ohm stereo stable, the subs are 4ohm SVC models.....best you can do with that package is run the subs in 4ohm stereo.

Options....

(1) Buy the package, get a generic dual 12s sealed or ported box, set it up properly and get as much out of that as you can for now.

(2) Buy the package, get a good ported box for one of the 12s, sell the other one, get better sound (definitely dig a little lower and probably go louder to boot. )

(3) Buy the package, use the amp to run your fronts and find a used 2ohm mono stable amp for the subs. You should be able to find 500WRMS @2ohms for $150 or so, depending on brand.

(4) Over the top option.....buy 2 packages, run all 4 subs off one amp in 2ohm stereo and use the second amp for your fronts.

#3 will probably give you the best over-all sound.....

HTH

What if I simply want to run but subs not worried about running my speakers off it, so then would it work if I used the front and the rear channels on the sub, instead of running speakers off the front and subs off the rear?

Not looking to win any compititions or anything with this system just looking to do a budget build on a college allowance.

Then I think option 2 would be better suited to your situation.

BigRed already said that amp can't handle 3 of those subs. BTW...more does not mean better. You won't win any competitions with 3 subs...there's a reason you don't see that setup in many competition cars. Most only have one or two, even the SPL guys.

3 SVC 4ohm subs = 1ohm. I'm not thinking that amp will handle it. If it does, it won't for long...

Can you guys suggest an amp that would run 3 subs? again something on the cheaper end if you could, or at least the specs of a amp that would

Any amp that is one ohm stable. Many say they handle 1 ohm but some handle it better than others. Most good 1 ohm amps aren't really cheap.

Why are you so set on using a third sub? Just get the package and have someone design you a custom enclosure for them.

save yourself the money you will use to replace them after the amp dies and the subs turn to jam and invest a few more bucks into a 1 or 2 sub set up that will satisfy your needs much more than 3 subs will.
