A tale of drunken stupidity

ok so after a few beers i thought ya i can hook my deck up right now. i dont need an adapter to make things simple. hell, i just got a new ohms tester. so i whip out the new tester and start testing away, there were two plugs. one i though was the power and such for the deck as it was obviously colored and i mistakenly cut the wires. after figureing out that none of them were my wires. i move to test the other harness which i had figure was the wiring for speakers. found the wires i needed hooked everything up. is working perfectly now stereo wise anyway. victorious i goto sleep and drive to work the next day no problems. get home park, go start the car later to go up town and try the lights. nothing. WTF? try again, nothing. check the fuse, it was good. the only thing i can think of is that there is some sort of loop or something through the stereo? i know that doesnt make any sense, but its all i got. anyone have any insight for a dumass?

Sounds like you have grounded the deck to the lighting circuit of the vehicle and the fuse did not protect the circuit at all. Time to head into a shop and have the damage repaired.

wow, That really sucks, I'm glad I didn;t screw up my install like that lol..

It's a pretty serious job when you start fiddling around back there, one mistake and you could screw up really bad and your light could stop working

ok so heres an update. and i dont take my car or trucks in for service. i am quite mechanicly inclined. anyways, i blew a number of fuses so i replaced the fuses, and still nothing. so i check the fuseable links and all the fuses in the car including the hidden dumb spots. and find nothing. it may be a relay as i can here a click when the vehicle is not running and i turn the headlight button on. so im still not able to drive at night. lol
