Generally speaking a multi-channel amp will be a/b, where mono amps will probably be d. Also it is pretty normal for your amp to get quite hot, that is why they need to be in a well ventilated area. Hot to the touch could very well be inside normal operating range.

Not to rag on your gear, but i doubt that upgrading the wire will help cool down the amp much. Just curious, where is the amp mounted? Upgrading your wiring (eh.k.eh. the big 3) can't hurt and certainly will help if you decide to upgrade to more RMS later.

Also skip the 4 awg, and go straight for 0 awg, altough you will probably need a distribution block also to connect to your amp.
Not really worth it IMO, but if you are going to be upgrading in the future, it would be worth it, or if your on a tight budget, would just go with 4awg, doing big 3 won't really do much for you with that amp.

i'd say try the 4awg, only because you its getting so hot, I think 8awg is only good up to 300-500W

If you are considering upgrading in the future IMO you should go with 0awg. Do it once, do it right. The price difference will be negligable if you are buying from an idustrial supplier, and there is nothing but benifits, IMO...

Any and every car audio shop has battery post extender terminals. So do most auto supply stores.
