What the hell??
What the hell??
Ohk. I need some help here. I just recently put in a system for the first time in my sunfire. I disconnected the ground, connected the power to the positive, ran it to the back to the capacitor and then to the amp. I have the capacitor and the amp both grounded to the same screw that is one of 3 that
hold in the rear driver strut. I ran RCAs and amp remote wire down the passenger side to the amp. I have the wires from the amp running parallel to 2 10" subs. Hooked the battery back up. The capacitor gets power and the amp also displays a green light that iot gets power. But the sub does not work. I turn the bass up, turn the sub up on the deck. Nothing. I opened up the box and checked that they were hooked up correctly, and they were. ALl the fuses are ok and all the wiring is correct (positive amp to positive sub, negative amp to negative sub). DOes anyone have an idea what is wrong? Both the amp and the subs are brand new

Is each sub wired separately to the amp? I would run 1 sub bridged off of channels 1 and 2, then run the second sub bridged off of channels 3 and 4.
The way I see it right now is that your subs are running in paralell (2 ohms) and running off of one channel. Usually 4 channel amps are stable at 2 ohms in stereo only, so if you were to bridge 2 channels together you would only be able to go as low as 4ohms. Try taking the speaker leads off the amp and tapping positive and negative on the + and - of a 9v battery, your subs should move outwards, if they don't move at all you might be out of phase
Good luck

Check your RCA's. Both that they don't have an internal problem and also that they are connected to the correct preouts on the deck (check preout crossover's also).
If the amp is powering up with no protection lights and the subs are connected properly and all you're missing is a signal I would look into that area first.

Thanks to everyone for their input but I figured it out. The problem was I had the Capacitor and the Amp both grounded seperately. But I was supposed to ground the capacitor and then run ground wire from the capacitor to the amp ground. I attached some pictures of my setup if anyone was ineterested in seeing it.
