Hi, my sub is 200 watts RMS X2, so I'd like an amp about 300 X 2. What do you recommend. A friend of mine has a Kicker Zr1000 for $500.00. Amazing amp, but how good does it sound? what else can you recommend? please help. I have no idea what to do.

 

You're pretty much on the right track. Any class a/b amp should suit. I couldn't tell you the difference between high power a/b amps, but I could give some recommendations myself:
