Where to but Fatmat sound deadener in the GTA?

Does anyone know where to buy in the GTA?

It's $100 for 50 sq ft off ebay ($2/sq ft).

I ran a quick goole search and it seems that people have bought for about $1 / sq ft.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have looked into that. The only way to get the best price $1.25/sq ft + taxes is to buy 100 sq ft.

Another member has approached me on a split, is anoyone else interested in a split?

There is about 25 sq ft that has not been accounted for.

is fatmat butyl or asphalt based?

I just put about 30 sq ft of Second Skin Damplirier Pro in... not bad stuff at all

This is what I got from their web site.

"Our 50 mil rubberized compound is covered with a shiny protective aluminum top as well as a waxed paper release bottom"

Safe to assume it is Butyl?

Yes, it is Butyl ;) I looked it up as well :P Haha. How much was the damplifier?

JohnVroom 01-22-2009 05:36 PM

the Damplifier Pro 36 sqft bulk packs go for $150 US the foil is pretty thick and the rubber is thinner than the Dynamat Extreme (Dynamat is thicker but the second skin packs seemed heavier). The stuff stuck pretty good if I kept it indoors and applied it on the 38F degree car, leaving it outdoors and trying to apply it was not a great choice on my part. I bought 2 bulk packs and one layer over the floor was sufficient to out perform the OEM carpet. As soon as I finish the cable tie downs I will reinstall the carpet, I am concerned it might be too quiet as I shift my 6 speed by engine sound.
The asphalt products have difficulty in the cold though I am sure there are exceptions. Cant touch the Fatmat prices though

the asphalt deadener in my winter truck is holding up pretty good in the recent -30 degree weather. I got mine from Oakville as well.

what is their butyl product called? I thought they were only asphalt.

Slaughter 01-22-2009 08:10 PM

Black butyl based rubber solid with a 3 mil highly reflective polished aluminum constrain layer, wax paper release liner

:D There is the description.

fatmat is notorious for making false statements. I did a quick google search. This is pretty recent: Thoughts On Fatmat - The Forum

There is a test too Sound Deadener Showdown but its like 4 years old now
