I have the following system that i need to wire for power the most efficient way.

I have one Kenwood KAC-8101D 1000 W. amp and a Kenwood KAC-269S 300 w. amp. The bigger one is going to be pushing two 10s, and the smaller one is going to be set up to a pair of components.

What is the best way to run power to these? I'm not concerned about connections from the amps to the speakers, more so power to the amps.

What gauge power wire should I run from the battery to the amps? What size fuse should I put on that wire? Do a connect that to a dist. block with fuses or no fuses? What gauge should I run from the dist. block to the amps?

Can someone just tell me a basic layout that would suit my needs. Thanks

4awg from the battery to a distro block with 8awg to each amp should be good enough.. 2awg off the batt to the block would be better...

Put a fuze as close to the batt. as possible . This will protect your ride if power wire shorts. Do a board search here , its been covered lots .

Use a 150 amp ANL fuse at the battery, and a distibutin block at the amps...the amps have their own fuses I think.

But if u reduce the cable´s size after distro block u have to put fuses there to. So u should use a fuse block...

The internal fuses of the amps are only for the amps, the fuses in the wires are to protect the wire if it gets short-connected to ground.

150 a is brutal overkill for the amps he has, as fused ditribution block in the rear is unneccesary, if you do go that way put the same size fuse that your amps have in the distribution block, under the hood an agu style fuse holder will be just fine with a 50-60 amp fuse. the 8101d comes with a 40a atc fuse in it and i think the other amp comes with a 15 amp if im correct so a 55-60 amp agu fuse under the hood would be fine, and again a fused distribution is a waste of money if your amps already have fuses in them, and a non fused distribution will do the job for you, good luck </font>[/QUOTE]thanks for all the good advice
