Well at least I gave you a laugh, eh?

This is my first install and with over $1600 invested I dont wanna blow anything up let alone have to take this apart again! Fair?

Sure none of this is rocket science, but there are some really time consuming bits that aren't obvious.

Oh well, its mostly in now and im pretty happy with how it went. I still have plenty to do to finish it but learnt a shitload as you do

Cheers!

There is some good shops out there in Ottawa, i would have to suggest going to see one of them and have them help. it would probably cost you some where in and around $100 to $130 to get it done righ and protect that $1600 investment

Good point TLC!

However... I did shop around a little when i discovered how much of a build this was upon opening the box of goodies.

I was warned away from the large chain stores by a buddy who had a couple of horror stories and went to one that was highly recommended.

I spoke to the receptionist who is the first contact for any business, who politely told me that saying i had not bought the equipment from them, I would be charged a premium. I said Ok, how much are we talking about. She replies $450+ and a 2 week wait, and laughed. Nice. If that was my business i would be furious.

Anyways... thats how i decided to do it myself. If for nothing else, to say F**k you to her/them.

You gotta laugh...

Cheers!

Wow, that sucks, ya the big box stores don't really like to install stuff that they don't sell. I find it really odd that a indapendant shop wouldn't even help you and would have the nerve to ask for $450. The only reason that i could see, is if the equipment was used, but still a little high if you ask me.
