Wiring Help Request
 

Hey folks - so I'm a huge newb, I'm doing my first install at 26 and am having some trouble digesting everything I will need to pre-arrange before I go for an install.

I've decided since I'm not handy enough to install my own amplifiers, and nowhere near handy enough to install component speakers up front that I'm going to save myself some hassle and get Sid from SIDDS to do this for me.

In an attempt to at least try to learn what they are doing I've decided to procure everything needed for the install, and this includes the wiring.

Multiple helpful enthusiasts have directed me towards KnuKnoceptz for my wiring needs, and not really feeling like going elsewhere I'm trying to put an order together.

I will be running a new Pioneer H/U, RSD6.5CS Fronts, Eclipse SW8200 sub, some 4-channel amp and some mono-amp (I haven't bought them yet).


I'm first looking at a amplifier install kit
-Kolossus Fleks 4 Gauge 4 Channel Amplifier Installation Kit (KFX-AK44)

I also think I'll need a second RCA cable for the mono amp
-Karma SS 2 Channel 6 Meter RCA Cable

I also think I'll need a 2-way distribution system
-KonFUSED 2 Way Distribution System

I'm not putting together anything of competition quality. I just want some decent sound. Feel free to correct me if you spot something that won't work.

Should I get more than 20FT of speaker wire?

If you're talking about Sidds Radio in Vaughn, why not buy the amps from them, get them to install and set it up.
You'll get all the free advice you need once you buy parts and pieces from the install shop.

If I ran a shop, I'd charge you extra for install if you bought everthing somewhere else. let them make money and they'll treat you right. Nickel and dime them to death and they'll screw you.

Yes, you need more speaker wire, the crossovers for the components go in the trunk, not the doors.

I considered doing everything through Sid, but the pricing at almost all of the install shops I've been to just can't compete with internet pricing. I lose the warranties, but I see at times that I could replace the different pieces for less than the cost of buying from someone in Canada. I think the Phoenix Gold RSD6.5CS was almost $500 in his shop. I bought them for $125 shipped. I went to First-Image a few weeks before that and was quoted almost $600 on the Eclipse SW8200. I bought it for $200.

Yup, I understand the difference in pricing. It's not that they're trying to screw you, it's just that all install shops are being screwed by the importers and distributors.
I bought a lot of my stuff on the internet, installed it all myself and don't need any warrantee.
I bought install stuff from the clearance section at Princess Auto, distribition stuff from Sayal, Crimp lugs from the local electrical shop, relays, fuse holders from canadin tire and made my own RCA's from leftover parts from work.
Recently replaced head unit and didn't mind buying from a local shop, canadian prices came down a lot.
