Okay. Let me know if I'm right or wrong with these questions...
Overview.. I have 2 amps and 2 D2 Subs. 1. To wire a 2100 HCCA to a single speaker do I use the Yellow wire and the Black Orange wire? Left side Positive and Right side Negative? Then push the (Mono) button? 2. To wire D2 Subs in 2 Ohm. Do I run the Positive to Positive, Negative to Negative (Parallel)? Or Positive to Negative, Negative to Positive (Stacked)? Or should I just run them straight in 4 Ohm? 3. Why does my 4 channel Orion have only 3 channels of input?? 4. How do I split my deck's Woofer output into 2 amps without loosing sound quality or power? Thanks.. Just finished building the first box myself!! :D Bought the MDF from Home Depot and got it cut there to spec. why dont u get a newer amp? i have no idea what a 2100 HCCA amp even looks like lol.
and it probably isnt 3 channels of input, maybe 2 channels of input and 1 pass through channel if u are using 2 amps. (i could be way off)I really need some specs or pics of this amp, i'ven never seen it or worked with it. you wire 2 D2 subs to 2 ohm like this http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wir...C_Series_2.gif |
Thanks for the diagram...
As for the amps, Just incase you're serious about not knowing them.. where did u find these peice of gear? i'd really consider a new sub amp
|
wait wait, so u gonna run 1 amp per sub?
when u asked how to wire D2 subs to 2 ohm i assumed u wanted to wire 2 subs together. There is no way to wire one D2 sub to 2 ohm, it can only be 1 or 4 ohm. |
Yes.. It's 1 amp per sub. I would assume the lower the ohm the better.. So 1 Ohm is louder right? I found the manual for the subs. I'll wire it parallel 1 ohm. I still have to find out how to bridge this amp though. I want the max out of it.
As for the amps, these are my personal preference. I stick with what I know, and I know these amps have made a reputation for themselves. It's .5 ohm stable. Not too many amps that I know of can handle that. Any how.. What would you recommend? Questions 1. 3. and 4. still remain. |
oh i didnt know they are stable that low, my bad. Go right ahead and wire your subs at 1 ohm each and hook up an amp per sub. those amps should do some hardcore power so I would suggest a bigger or maybe even a second battery.
to split your decks output you just take a Y splitter to the rca's, since u are running the amp in MONO it shouldnt make a diff if you input left and right channel or just one. Or you can get a line driver with mutiple sub outs. im gonna do some research on your amp and try to answer the rest of your questions. |

They also look like they are in great shape. The 2100hcca will draw alot of current |
hmm let me put this in perspective:
a)you have no clue what you talking about? -you are correct, i have stated that im totally clueless many, many times. b)you have no clue what your talking about because your car audio knowledge is all within the last 2 years? -you are correct once again!!!! I dont know anything, not even the last 2 years, not even the last week. c)your trying to confuse the heck out of him by giving him advice on product you seem to know nothing about? -OMG u must be a fortune teller. u are 100% correct once again!!! However, i was not trying to give him any advice on the product, i was just trying to confuse the heck out of him....u think it worked?? .....dumbass |

Don't worry "slow/n\low " HA HA HA!! I know what I have!! I had the 2150SX for 10 years and it got stolen. So I upgraded to these! I went for these because I wanted them for over 14 years! I remember when they cost $3,500 US each!! BTW The pics of the amps were not of mine. I just found links to the amp on the net to show what I'm talking about. HA HA HA!!! Still laughing! Y Connector. My deck has 6.5 volt output. Would it drop it by splitting it? Extra power source. I have: -2 interstate batteries, -A MBR-70 battery regulator -A 15 farad Alumapro C.A.P. -Getting a D31T Optima Yellow top 0 Gauge from the yellow top on a 400 amp anl So I'm real good for power.. I know Frank (20Hz) would know how to hook it up properly! He had these amps running the strokers in the Yellow astro before. I think he hit 173.4 if I'm not mistaken... But I got a quote from him last week and since have decided to do it myself... So he won't be too appreciative me asking info..! I'd love to find someone with the manual. But if you can find out the info it would be amazing!!! [ May 18, 2004, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: Humvee2 ] |
i doubt your amp needs full 6.5volt of input.

Originally posted by Team Canada SPL - Yuli: i doubt your amp needs full 6.5volt of input. Yes your amp needs 6.5 volts of input, the more the better...............especially those things..........more input means more output with those amps....... |
hmm i find that most amps do not require more than 2.5volts of input. i however dont know about older amps, perhaps they do need all that voltage?
i know if u look in the manula for newer amps they say something like 0.5v-2.5v input. I know my amps peak out at 2.4v of input, the more the better doesnt work for them, they start to distort and i see no gain in spl? |
Yuli, while your comments have some merit, you have to understand also that what a deck puts out and what the amp sees once it's way down the RCA's and whatever else is between the deck and the amp....................a head unit's output inpedence is almost as important as the output voltage..................while your amps may only take 2.5v, doesn't mean your amps are getting 100% purundistorted 2.5v..........if they did.............you will get more power from your amps and cleaner power................
|
with a 5.6v deck i dont gain anything with input voltage over 2.4v. you can probly tell i dont know all the theory behind it, i just go by what i see on the spl meter. even with my 11 volt line driver that was located 1 foot worth of rca lenght from the amp's inputs i saw no gain at anything over 2.4 volts.

Too much jokes!!!!! Yo Tim, you're in BC? I wish you were closer man!! I would come chill at your shop! I'm loving those Ipod mounts! What do you think I can do with my door panels? I have a 6.5" mid, 4" mid and tweet to go in each door. I have no idea where to start! And I'm lovin' your vision with your installs. Originally posted by Humvee2: Y Connector. My deck has 6.5 volt output. Would it drop it by splitting it? What 'can' happen if you have a high output impedance deck and low input impedance amps is that the amp load gets too low for the deck (too much current draw) and the voltage drops off or the deck clips earlier. It works the same as an amp and speakers - you need to be aware of the driven load. |
George thinks that Yuli's knowledge of how the electronics in his system work is very scarey. George wonders if Yuli could take the energy he uses in back tracking his comments and speaking about things he later admit he knows nothing about and uses that energy to actually learn how his gear works, how SPL works and how vehicle functions work then he might find that he would be an even better competitor and would then be able to pass on creditable information onto the many people that he attempts to help.

Dude, you are DEAD ON!

Yuli, doesnt like to be proven wrong, I have started to learn that. It may be damaging to his image of canadian spl record holder.

u must be a psychologist. once again u are right. i dont know **** all. all the trophies i got must have just fallen from the sky....

Trophies
Thats what my car audio knowledge has been missing Trohies |
yep, thats what u get when u win no? i must be lucky to win all these shows without having a clue

I personally am starting to get an idea as to what is needed to win in spl...and it is not what I thought it should be.
|
just remember when u say something about winning in spl and reffer it to me you also reffer to many other spl competitors. so i'd be carefull there.

I still need to know how to wire the 2100 HCCA to one sub. And how to set up the X-Over on this 425 HCCA [ May 21, 2004, 06:04 PM: Message edited by: Humvee2 ] |
George would like to apologize for Yuli and others taking your post way off course. George thinks you have some great amplifiers that are going to put out serious power for you if they are installed and set up properly.
