Wiring Problem with amp!
Wiring Problem with amp!
Here is the scoop. I installed a 2-channel Cadence amp into my car.
Ran 4 ga power and ground. Also ran a remote wire tapping into an ignition wire and this setup ran great for about a week.
One night coming home from work I turn it up a bit and the amp cuts out. Thinking maybe something grounded it self out I start to troubleshoot the wire. Move my ground hearing this is one of the biggest problems in wiring is ground placement. I then relocate my remote wire to the ignition wire going into the deck as a safe bet to avoid solenoids and so on. And what I end up with is I am getting 12 Volts between Postive and Remote, and 12V between remote and ground, but Positive to grount I get nothing. Amp will not power up, yet if I take it to the basement and hook it up to a 12V power supply just jumpering the wire from positive to remote the amp turns on fine?
Any suggestions? I have ripped the system apart and cannot figure it out for the life of me.

not sure if i understand your problem completely - but to me it seems your pos is grounded and the 12 volts you are seeing from remote to Gnd and remote to Pos is coming from your 12volt ignition
did you ground out your pos and blow the main fuse and now when you get 12volt from remote to pos it is acting as a 12volt to ground?
thats my 2 cents if i understand your problem correctly
