Some imports are domestically built. That is true. I was told, however, that they are still built by that company ie: Matrix is still built by toyota but its built domestically. Either way, I prefered the Matrix over the vibe for the increased selling value. Since I don't intend to drive it till it drops, I would rather keep the increased resale value.

Replacing the entire system is not an option.
Rewiring, or a new amp is not what I am looking at doing.
I agree it would be worth it, but its not feesible for me right now.

I simply want to know if those speakers will work.
Can I just plug new components into the stock component wires in the front?
Or is there a compatibility issue between stock speakers and new ones?

thankyou.

Provided the impedance provided by the current stereo is the same as the component set that you are installing, then you should be able to. Mind you, you most likely won't be getting enough power from your factory setup in order to properly power a new set of speakers.

The monsoon system is rated at 200watts....the same as most decks..
So if the speakers run sufficiently off a deck, would they run well off my amp?

I was told by someone that I couldnt not matter what because stock speakers on my system dont have a capaciter so its built into the sytem, and new speakers do so they arnt compatible....is this true? or is it a problem?

thanks again!

you can put any speakers in as long as they don't have a built in crossover.
replace the woofer with a better woofer, replace the tweeter with a better tweeter, etc., etc.
2 ohm will give you the same as the factory system. You could put in 4 ohm, it will be less volume, but less distortion, so you won't be blowing speakers.

What you need are bi-ampable speakers. Here is an example from Polk:
http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/mmc690/
there are lots of 6.5 components.
My GM came 6 inch mid and 3/4" tweeter in the door. It took some modifyn' to fit in 6.5's.

CDT, MB Q and Rockford also make/sell component 6x9s, but only 4 ohm.
You can convert 6x9's to 6.5's
And if you really want to stick with 2 ohm:
RE Audio XXX6.5 COMP - RE Audio 6.5" 2 Way 2 Ohm XXX Series Component Set 722.00 US !!!!!!!!!!
Boston has a really nice 3 ohm set for 380 US

OK!, It took some searchn but i found 6x9, 2 ohm, 2 way external crossover:
Kappa 692.7i 2-way 6x9 Speakers
List price: $199.00
Your price: $124.50
and matching 2 ohm 6.5's
INFINITY kappa 60.7cs 2-way car speakers
List price: $299.00
Your price: $168.00

Maybe some of the canadian vendors on here could offer better pricing.
