Wiring -vs- Head Unit Problem??

Hey! I have been battling the same problem for weeks now, so I am looking elsewhere for help. I am running an Eclipse Head Unit with two amps - one 600W RMS mono block to my two 10's, and one 200W RMS 4-ch to my front components and rear plates. I have 4GA wiring from my positive terminal with a 100A ANL fuse in-line running to a dist. block with two 40A AGU fuses. Remotes are hooked up and looking good.
My amps light up all the time the system is on, but I only get music for a few minutes before it starts cutting in and out. When it is cut out, if you max the HU volume, you can hear music but just barely. I have checked all my wiring and the connections are good. Ground is good to the chasis and the HU is grounded to the 4 ch amp, and both amps grounded to the same spot on chasis. Any ideas on what to check next? Are the fuses proper for the setup? Please help, so much equipment, no music, life sucks!

if both amps do the same thing, i'd suspect a bad hu. take it back where you got it.

^ agreed it does look like the HU... any other items we should know like "it all started when I did this seemingly innocent thing..."?

The only other detail is that the cutting in and out is so random. At first, it happened driving down a back road, so I assumed a loose connection. Then, other random acts, such as slamming doors and braking were making it cut out. Eventually I assumed it was all a coincidence, due to the fact that I checked the connections over and over and all looked and metered well. Unfortunately I bought the HU on eBay (doh!!) months ago and I have about a grand into it, so maybe someone can fix it. If anyone knows someone in Alberta who can fix this, please drop me a line. Thanks for the response guys, it confirms my suspicions. :ohwell:
