How many speakers?

I have an old kenwood radio/tape header unit, its 100 watts per channel and 4 channels. I want to add some speakers (subs) to flesh out the sound, and toying with the idea of a centre fill up front, and subs down in the rear of the car.Dont know how or if this is possible?? i read you could run the centre fill off two front speakers by poaching the the neg and the pos wire off each speaker. How feasible is this?

depends on what you wanna do and where are you installing it too i would recommend using that old kenwood tape player for a souvenir in the other hand run the center fill in series due to the ohm rating on the head unit usually older units run 4ohm or possibly 8ohms and nothing is impossible it just might not sound correctly or can create havoc to your channels meaning distortion short on internal amplifier just run it normal 4 channel stereo and if the unit is capable of handling a 2 ohm load
run the 2 drivers parellel with your 2 front speakers left and right posi together with speaker posi same for right and left.. there you have the fronts ran at 2 ohm load in parellel not series will create more power meaning it will be louder but your stereo ay heat up quicker on the chassis heat sink area so be carefull cause old products internals are delicate .. my name is joseph im the oldschool car stereo doctor

old kenwood

Hello joseph, you definately sound old school alright. I say my kenwood is old but I dont know how old.I aquired it around 2004 but i dont know its original release date.Maybe you might know. Its a Kenwood KRC 194 and bought for a 1978 classic reliant scimitar.I still have tapes and it keeps in with the style of the car.I guess if it doesnt work I can always change it for something else??
Anyway, welcome to the forum man.Im a newbie to the forum and the current car audio scene.
