New to car audio. Need woofer help
Hey guys names trev, uhhhhhh I just recently purchased 2 polk db1240dvc subs (both at 4 ohms), and a custom tight vented box. So what I wanted to ask you guys was, what amp should I be running these guys on. The head unit says I should not be connecting speakers lower than 4 ohms. So I am guessing that I would need a 4 ohm amp? Please enlighten me, I have no idea what I am doing and car audio is far from my area of expertise. so any help is greatly appreciated :)

You need an amp that can do rated 500 to 750 watts rms at 1 ohm.
Refer to diagram below for connection, give us a budget and we can make some recommendations on which amp. http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1a99c417.jpg |
Lets see, my budget is under 200. But, If there are better albeit more expensive amps go ahead and list those too because really price is no object. But if I could find a solid one for under 200 then obviously thats what ill go for.
Cheers Mate. |
The thing is 1 ohm amps are kinda pricey, but uh couldn't I run them on an amp with a 4 ohm load, I feel like it would be the same output but less strain on the battery?

750 watts rms @ 1 ohm is relatively cheaper than 750 watts rms @ 4 ohms.
750 watts @ 1 ohm is fine on the battery... |
Thanks so much man I would give you rep or the +1 thing but I dont have any so it prob doesnt matter. One more thing, can you repost or tell me where to find that picture? it disappeared.
